The O.C. is a WWE professional wrestling faction best known for uniting AJ Styles with the tag team of Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. Originally presented as The Club in 2016, the group drew on the three wrestlers’ shared history in Japan while developing a separate identity within WWE’s on-screen continuity.
The faction’s principal WWE runs occurred in 2016, from 2019 to 2020, and after an October 2022 reunion. Mia Yim, later billed again as Michin, joined the group in November 2022. Styles generally served as its leader, while Gallows and Anderson also competed independently as The Good Brothers.

Background and identity
Before appearing together in WWE, Styles, Anderson and Gallows had each been associated with Bullet Club in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Anderson was one of the group’s founding members, Gallows became his regular tag-team partner, and Styles later led a prominent version of the faction. WWE did not present The Club or The O.C. as an official branch of Bullet Club, which remained a separate group belonging to another promotion. The shared imagery, terminology and personnel nevertheless made that earlier association an important part of the WWE trio’s public identity.
Within WWE storylines, the name “The Club” initially described the alliance among Styles, Gallows and Anderson rather than a heavily formalized stable. In 2019, WWE renamed the reunited trio The O.C., an abbreviation promoted on television as the “Original Club.” The full branding also included the boast that they were the “official, original and only club that matters.” The new name distinguished WWE’s group while preserving the history implied by its earlier presentation.
The act combined two different structures. Styles was the singles wrestler and usually the central character, while Gallows and Anderson formed an established heavyweight tag team. This allowed The O.C. to operate in both singles and tag-team programs without requiring all three members to wrestle together in every match.
Formation as The Club in 2016
Gallows and Anderson made their WWE main-roster debut on the April 11, 2016 episode of Raw, attacking The Usos. Styles had debuted for WWE earlier that year and was pursuing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship held by Roman Reigns. Because of the three men’s past association, Gallows and Anderson’s arrival immediately raised questions in the storyline about whether they intended to assist Styles.
The pair interfered during Styles’ rivalry with Reigns, although Styles initially denied directing their actions. That uncertainty became part of the story: Styles wanted to establish that he could win on his own, while Gallows and Anderson repeatedly offered their version of friendship and support. Styles failed to take the championship from Reigns at Payback and Extreme Rules, despite the increasingly chaotic involvement of both men’s allies.
The Club became an unambiguous villainous unit on the May 30 episode of Raw. After John Cena returned from injury, Styles appeared to welcome him back before Gallows and Anderson came to ringside. Styles then attacked Cena, completing the trio’s reunion and beginning a feud between Styles and Cena. The angle established that Styles had accepted the tactics he had previously claimed to reject.
Gallows and Anderson simultaneously pursued WWE’s tag-team division, including a program with The New Day. The stable’s first run was brief because the 2016 WWE Draft divided the members between brands: Styles went to SmackDown, while Gallows and Anderson remained on Raw. Although the wrestlers retained their shared history, the roster split ended The Club as an active three-man faction.

Reunion and adoption of The O.C. name
Styles, Gallows and Anderson were reunited on WWE television in 2019. During the June and early July episodes of Raw, Gallows and Anderson encouraged Styles to recover the aggression they believed he had lost. On July 1, Styles challenged Ricochet for the United States Championship. After failing to win the restarted match, Styles attacked Ricochet with Gallows and Anderson, turning villain and formally restoring the alliance.
Styles defeated Ricochet for the United States Championship at Extreme Rules on July 14, with Gallows and Anderson contributing to the ringside disruption. On the July 22 episode of Raw, the trio adopted The O.C. as its official name. One week later, Gallows and Anderson won the Raw Tag Team Championship in a triple-threat match against The Revival and The Usos. For a short period, all three members therefore carried championships at the same time.
The tag-team reign ended in August when Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman defeated Gallows and Anderson. Styles continued defending the United States Championship with his partners nearby, using the faction to control matches and retaliate against challengers. Rey Mysterio eventually defeated Styles for the title on the November 25 episode of Raw.
The O.C. also appeared at Crown Jewel in October 2019, where Gallows and Anderson won a multi-team Tag Team Turmoil match. WWE’s storyline presentation described them afterward as the “best tag team in the world.” That designation was attached to the event’s match and branding rather than constituting a conventional championship reign.
Conflict with The Undertaker and 2020 separation
In early 2020, Styles entered a rivalry with The Undertaker. At Super ShowDown, The Undertaker made a surprise appearance at the end of the Tuwaiq Trophy gauntlet and defeated Styles, who had attempted to exploit Gallows and Anderson’s interference. Styles then mocked The Undertaker and challenged him to a match at WrestleMania 36.
The resulting Boneyard match was a pre-recorded cinematic bout staged in an outdoor graveyard setting rather than a conventional wrestling ring. Gallows and Anderson intervened on Styles’ behalf, but The Undertaker overcame them and defeated Styles by burying him in a grave as part of the fictional presentation. The match was one of WrestleMania 36’s most distinctive productions, shaped in part by WWE’s move to closed-set events during the COVID-19 pandemic.
WWE released Gallows and Anderson in April 2020, separating them from Styles and bringing that version of The O.C. to an end. Styles remained with WWE and continued as a singles wrestler. Gallows and Anderson subsequently worked outside the promotion before returning more than two years later.

WWE return and expansion
Gallows and Anderson returned to WWE on the October 10, 2022 episode of Raw. Styles, who was being confronted by The Judgment Day, introduced them as his backup before the reunited O.C. fought with Finn Bálor, Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio. The program made use of Styles and Bálor’s separate histories as leaders of Bullet Club, but WWE treated The O.C. and The Judgment Day as its own competing factions.
The O.C. initially struggled to counter Rhea Ripley, whose interference repeatedly gave The Judgment Day an advantage. On the November 7 episode of Raw, Mia Yim returned to WWE and attacked Ripley, joining The O.C. as its fourth member. Yim was later billed as Michin, a name that became her regular WWE identity. Her inclusion expanded the faction beyond the original trio and provided a direct opponent for Ripley in the storyline.
The Judgment Day defeated The O.C. in a six-man tag-team match at Crown Jewel after Ripley interfered. At Survivor Series WarGames, Styles defeated Bálor in a singles match while their respective allies were present at ringside. The rivalry emphasized the personal history between the wrestlers, but its outcomes belonged to WWE’s scripted narrative rather than representing a real dispute between the performers.
After Styles was sidelined by an ankle injury, the faction’s television activity decreased. The group moved to SmackDown through the 2023 WWE Draft. Styles returned and entered the tournament for the newly introduced World Heavyweight Championship, reaching the final at Night of Champions before losing to Seth Rollins. Gallows, Anderson and Michin remained associated with him, although they were less consistently involved in his major singles programs.
Later presentation
Over time, WWE presented the members on partially separate paths. Gallows and Anderson continued as The Good Brothers and appeared on NXT, while Michin pursued singles opportunities in WWE’s women’s divisions. Styles’ character also became more isolated and antagonistic, reducing the group’s role in his stories. Because professional wrestling factions can remain nominally associated even when members rarely appear together, the absence of a formal on-screen dissolution does not by itself establish a precise endpoint.
The O.C.’s place in WWE history rests primarily on its repeated reunions and its connection to the members’ careers before WWE. Unlike a group created entirely for one storyline, it carried an identity that audiences already associated with Styles, Gallows and Anderson. WWE adapted that connection first through the generic Club name and later through company-specific O.C. branding.
